A Rehabilitation & Addition to the Mississippi County Courthouse

Blytheville, Arkansas

Play the video below for a virtual walk through.

Anticipating completion in late 2021, 100 years after it was first constructed, this major addition and renovation of the downtown Blytheville landmark will approximately double in size and dramatically improve life safety, security, accessibility and function of space for the citizens of this community in northeast Arkansas.

While clearly discernible from the original courthouse, the compatible addition makes use of similar materials and features while remaining subservient to the original, taller and more substantial courthouse.  The use of glass at the new public entrance provides a level of transparency important in government buildings.

The project will add one new courtroom while beautifying the original grand courtroom in the original courthouse.  The original courtroom, perhaps the largest and most impressive courtroom in the state, will receive a new, period correct chandelier from St. Louis Antique Lighting Company.  The ceiling will decorated from artists at Evergreene, based in NYC.
